Best Picture Oscar nominees CODA, West Side Story and Don’t look up were among the winners of the Casting company37th annual Artios Rewards, which were presented today in a virtual ceremony broadcast live on YouTube. Check out the full list below.
Other films scoring trophies that honor casting directors include Encanto, the tender bass and Spider-Man: No Coming Home, which snatched the Zeitgeist award given to a popular film.
No More Deadline
On the television side, the winners included the casting teams behind Ted Lasso, The Queen’s Gambit, Pose, Lovecraft Country, Big Mouth and weird eye, among others.
“We are thrilled to honor these extremely talented, creative and hard-working casting directors tonight,” said Casting Society President Kim Williams. “What a wonderful way to begin the Casting Society’s 40th year by celebrating the invaluable contributions of these extraordinary casting directors to the world of entertainment.”
Ghosts Co-star Danielle Pinnock hosted the ceremony, which featured a number of high-profile presenters including current Oscar nominees Steven Spielberg, Ariana DeBose and Troy Kotsur, as well as two-time Oscar nominee Lee Daniels and Brian Cox, Emmy winner.
“I’ve always been so inspired by the endless creativity and passion of casting directors – giving actors a platform to share their gifts and helping creators realize their vision by bringing together the perfect cast of performers. “, said Pinnock.
Since 1985, the Artios Awards have honored casting directors in over 20 categories spanning film, television and theatre. Additionally, special winners are selected for their contributions to craftsmanship. Nominees and winners are elected by members of the recently renamed Casting Society.
